Master Gardeners hosting free conference

Wood County Master Gardeners are hosting the “Homesteading, Back to Basics” Spring Conference on Saturday, March 23 at Quitman High School from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The special guest speaker is Holly Ross with additional breakout sessions on various topics.

Learn more about container gardens, edible plants, beneficial herbs, lavender uses, preserving food safety, seed saving and much much more.

The Master Gardeners will have a plant and herb sale along with an auditorium full of vendors.

The event is free to the public. Door prizes and raffle tickets are available.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
