McFarland football trio in hall of fame
Three former McFarland High School Bears from Mineola have been inducted into the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association Hall of Fame. From left are Alfred Tennyson, Tara Sampson representing her late grandfather Marvin “Duckey” Sampson and Joe Tave. Inductions were held at a banquet at the Marriott South Hobby Airport in Houston July 15. The PVIL was the governing body for black high schools in Texas from 1920 to 1970. The three McFarland exes were inducted for football.
