McMahon named all-state
Mineola sophomore Mahayla McMahon has been named to the all-state volleyball team for Conference 3A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
McMahon started for the Lady Jackets in her first year with the school district.
“Mahayla is an exceptional volleyball player,” Coach TaShara Stephens said. “This is her first year at Mineola. She plays with so much heart and doesn’t mind diving after balls and doing whatever it takes to help her team win.
“When our setter went out with a season ending injury, Mahyala stepped in as second setter in order to do what was best for the team. I look forward to seeing where this sport takes her.”
She recorded 321 kills, 15 blocks, 62 assists and 226 digs on the season and earned player of the week honors from the Tyler newspaper.
