McMahon signs with Tyler Junior College
Mineola senior softball player Mahayla McMahon will be competing next year as a Tyler Junior College Apache. She signed a letter of intent last week in a ceremony at the Mineola gymnasium, in front of teammates, coaches, family and friends.
Mahayla’s mother, Brittany McMahon, echoed many of the sentiments shared during the ceremony stating, “We are extremely proud of who she is as a person and her dedication to sports, to the classroom and to her family. We are excited to see what God has planned for her future.”
McMahon has been a mainstay of Mineola athletics throughout her high school career as an accomplished athlete in volleyball, basketball, softball and track. Mineola athletic director Cody Moore lauded her positive impact in every endeavor she has undertaken. He noted the intangibles Mahayla possesses that enable her to excel, as well as the example and leadership she provides.
Lady Jacket softball coach Taelor Cheshire noted Mahayla’s dedication, resilience and love of the game.
Following a series of photos taken to mark the occasion, Mahayla offered, “This has all been done to glorify the Lord, he has prepared me for this.”
With thanks to teammates, coaches, trainers, the school, family and fans, Mahayla’s father – and Mineola high school principal – Adam McMahon added that he will finally be able to cheer and yell as he always wanted to, but had to curb while watching his daughter play as a Lady Jacket.
