Micayla Rose Kolb 2005-2023

Funeral services for Micayla Rose Kolb, 17, of Alba are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman, with Chaplain Robert Stovall officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery in Alba.

Micayla was born on May 9, 2005 in Sulphur Springs. She was a senior at Grand Saline High School where she was ranked 4^th in her class, set to graduate in May. Micayla was very involved in UIL literacy criticism, member of the yearbook staff and a member of the student council. She had decided to attend Texas Tech University in the fall and planned to attain her bachelors degree in business management with a minor in interior design.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gene Kolb.

Micayla is survived by her loving parents, Micah DeShawn and Shannon Rebecca (Barnes) Kolb of Alba; grandparents, Donna Robertson of Alba and Rusty and Sue Barnes of Alba; great-grandmothers, Betty Alexander of Alba and Kay Barnes of Mineola; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. She is also survived by her sweet 4-legged fur babies, Jack, Boomer, Cloe and Frosty.

Serving as pallbearers will be Micah Kolb, Rusty Barnes, Aubrey Barnes, Garrett Barnes, Jonathan Barnes and Ismael Ruiz.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
