Michael Arthur Sears was born Aug. 13, 1942 in Dallas and passed away on Sept. 15, 2025 in Quitman at 83 years of age.

Mike attended local elementary schools before attending Jesuit High School and graduating in 1960. Mike was very proud to share his Jesuit legacy with his grandson, Mark Hewitt.

After graduating from Jesuit, Mike joined the Air Force and was stationed in Turkey with the military police. Mike’s Air Force career was cut short after suffering a severe facial injury during a baseball game.

After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Mike worked briefly for Nationwide Papers and several food brokerage companies before venturing out on his own and forming Multiple Systems, Inc.

Mike married Anna Louise Carey in 1963 and had two children, Virginia “Kay” Hewitt and Michael Arthur Sears, Jr. Mike later married Margaret Ann Peddy Buerger. With this new marriage, he welcomed Margaret’s daughter, Sherry Diane Buerger, to the family.

In 1997, Mike and Margaret built their dream home in Quitman. Mike enjoyed spending time on his tractor and working on his many projects around Crow’s Nest. However, Mike’s favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. Mike was blessed with six grandsons and one granddaughter. Mike had a unique gift in that he could make each one feel like they were the most special in his life. Mike never retired from the business world, he stayed active, even while taking care of Margaret after her diagnosis of frontal lobe dementia. Mike wanted to be found doing what he loved best, riding his tractor.

Mike will be truly missed by family, many friends and business associates.

Mike is predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Ann Sears; his parents, Chauncey and Margery Sears; and his sisters, Diane Sears, Leslie Knetsar and Margery Reese and brother-in -law, Joseph Reese.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Virginia “Kay” Sears Hewitt of Holly Lake Ranch, husband David and sons, Jake and Mark; son, Michael Arthur Sears, Jr. of San Antonio, wife Anna and children, Charlie and Teri; and step-daughter, Sherry Diane Buerger Carr of Dallas, husband Matt and sons, Mason and wife Taylor, Harrison and Evan.
