Mineola board honors students, staff members
During its April meeting, the Mineola School Board honored the following students and staff:
Students of the month
Primary - kindergarten Kinleigh Bell and Emmett Taylor
Elementary - fourth grade Ava Arbter and Adrian Alvarado
Midde School - 8th grade Iris Goodson and Isaac Acevado
High School - seniors Paul Stanley and Ella Layne
Support staff - Terry McKnight, maintenance
Teacher of the month - Lacy Smith, middle school, history, also district teacher of the year
Also honored were all-state volleyball players senior Macy Fischer, all-state academic, and sophomore Mahayla McMahon, TGCA all-state
Football honors - Paul Stanley, academic all-state
Power lifting - Jaylee Nevarez, Zion Olajide and Moses Medellin, state meet qualifiers
Color guard - recognized for national competition winners.
Staff changes approved included contract renewals for Norvella Anderson, high school, and Sadie Adams, primary school. Tim Prince was hired for the district police department.
Resignations were accepted from Jennifer Nugent, who is resigning from the middle school office staff to pursue student teaching, teacher/coach Kam Neeley at middle school and Alison Atkins, middle school choir.
In-district staff changes were approved for Jana Nance to middle school coach, Jacoby Harle to teacher/coach at middle school and Brandi Keener to special education.
