The Mineola City Council approved contract extensions for Police Chief Chuck Bittner and City Manager Mercy Rushing following a closed session at last week’s August council meeting.

Bittner received a 5% pay raise for a four-year contract through 2028.

Rushing received a 5% raise and a one-year contract.

Two items were approved that include extending the time allowed to construct a new Holiday Inn Express near the Best Western Inn off Hwy. 69 South.

One extends the project by a year to September 2025. The other adjusts the incentive to $100,000 following groundbreaking and $200,000 following project completion.
