Mineola HS students pass on scientific knowledge

Posted

From air rockets to zoos, teams of one to five Mineola High School students entertained elementary school students while also imparting science lessons Friday in the elementary gym and adjacent outdoor areas.

The annual science extravaganza is coordinated by high school science teacher Deborah Armstrong, who charges the students with coming up with a fun activity that also demonstrates some scientific principal.

The students are graded on how they incorporate and explain at least three scientific terms in their presentations.

The elementary students take turns at each station, sometimes just watching the demonstrated principal while at others participating in game play related to the topic.
