Mineola will dedicate its first new campus in several decades Friday with a ribbon cutting and related events at the new Primary School on NE Loop 564 at 10 a.m.

School tours will be offered by staff members, who have been busily preparing the campus to welcome its first students the following week as schools resumes for the fall session on Thursday, Aug. 15.

The campus was constructed as part of a $29.9 million bond package approved by MISD voters in May 2022.

It will house pre-kindergarten students and the Head Start program as well as grades K-3.

The former elementary school is closing, to be renovated to serve as a career and technical education center for the adjacent high school.

The former primary school has been renamed the intermediate school and will house the fourth and fifth grades.

The center turn lane on Loop 564 has been extended to the new campus, and a right-turn lane has been added for eastbound traffic.

School officials plan to publicize the drop off and pick up protocols in the coming days.
