Camp We Read has come to a close. It was an awesome summer reading program. We visited the primary and elementary campuses during summer school as well as hosted seven programs in the library.

Children completed several reading challenges which may have helped them pick books to read over the summer. We served 395 children in both programs and hope they had as much fun as we did.

Many thanks to our volunteers, Dollar General Literacy Grant and Kiwanis for making summer reading possible. Many thanks to Rotary for keeping the wheels on the bookmobile turning.

Thank you to those who attended the Select Theater’s showing of To Kill a Mockingbird starring Gregory Peck. Your donations mean the world to us.

Things will slow down at the library but we will still be open, the air conditioners will be running, and there are still lots of books to read.

Toddler Time continues on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. for the 18-month to 3-year-old-crowd.

Our last Homeschool Heroes for the summer will be Friday, July 19, then that group will take a break.

East Texas Perfictionist Book Club will meet Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the library to discuss Dean Koontz’s “Devoted” and their movie selection for the month.

What do we do when programming slows down? We weed, inventory and plan programs for the rest of this year and into next year. Have an idea for programming? Let us know. Willing to volunteer to get that program going? Let us know that as well.

Please, remember the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit that does not receive any tax money from the city or the county. We gladly receive donations from people like you, and your donation may be tax-deductible.
