I recently returned from a whirlwind vacation to South Dakota. It was great! However, while I was gone, our public access computers died. No resurrecting them this time (they were 11 years old).

I am working on it. I have two new computers up and running and am working on another. Please, be patient.

Our lantana is blooming profusely. They sure are pretty and the butterflies really like them. Hope you are enjoying them as much as we are.

We are busily planning fall programs. Toddler Story Time will continue. Pre School Story Time will be back. We are considering an after-school program. Do you have ideas for programs at the library? Please, let us know and bring details such as age group, passive or hands-on, a good day/time, and will you help with the program.

East Texas Library Friends Book Club will be meeting on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Lillie Russell Memorial Library discussing “Demon of Unrest” by Erik Larson. Why are we meeting in Lindale? This group was formed to give patrons a chance to experience other libraries and to be able to get to a book club close to them. When we started in 2009, this was an important consideration.

Another book club is East Texas Perfictionists. They are a book club that meets in the library on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30 which will be Aug. 29. They are reading the “Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride” by Joe Siple. They can be found on Facebook or through the Facebook group Ladies of Mineola.

Mineola Memorial Library is not funded by city or county taxes. We are a 501(c)3, non-profit operating as your library. You donations are welcome and may be tax-deductible.
