School is in session. Everyone is adjusting to their new schedules, and the library is no different.

We are planning our fall programs that will resume the third week of  September. Watch Facebook and our website for information as well as reading the Wood County Monitor and listening to KMOO the first Tuesday of the month at 8:45 a.m.

We now have four operating computers for patrons to use. Be warned. They currently print directly to the computer.

Color copies are $1 per page while black and white are 20 cents a page. If you only want one page of something, be sure you make adjustments and don’t end up printing 50 pages that you will need to pay for. Front desk staff is always willing to help.

We have our new carport installed to give shelter to our bookmobile. Lots of things had to happen to get that installed, but it is there now.

We subscribe to the TexShare Databases. Ask staff if you need help finding it. Included are genealogical research aids, Learning Express with everything from practice pages for students K-12 but also GED study prep, and there’s even a resume helper.

East Texas Library Friends just met in Lindale to discuss Erik Larson’s “Demon of Unrest” which is a non-fiction book about the days leading up to Lincoln’s inauguration and what was going on in Fort Sumter. Their next book selection is “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon.

East Texas Perfictionist Book Club will meet Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the library to discuss “The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride.”

All are welcome to join whether you have read this book or not. Discussions at book clubs don’t always stay on the book but sometimes go off on related tangents.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit.

We do not receive any city or county tax money. Your donations are welcome, appreciated, and may be tax-deductible.
