Here we are in September. So many things happening this month.

September is Library Card Sign-Up month. What does that mean to you? It’s a time for you to renew your library card (we do that once a year in case you move, had your street renumbered or any other changes) or it’s a time to get a library card. They are free. You just need a photo ID to confirm that you are you and something with your current mailing address on it, and if that is on your photo ID then you are set. If not, just a piece of mail that’s delivered to your house (we won’t read it). These two items confirm you are you and your mailing address for the off chance you forget to return your library books and need a reminder.

What do you get with a library card? Access to movies and books to borrow and enjoy in the comfort of your own space. Access to the TEXShare Databases that have a variety of information from genealogy to GED preparation to resume help. Access to eBooks through a couple of different platforms.

Please, stop by and get a library card or update the information on your current library card. If you are not sure if you have a library card just ask us at the front desk and we’ll check. (Not saying which author of this column ever lost hers in the abyss that is a car seat, but things happen.) You get one free replacement card.

Toddler Story Time continues on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years with their parent/caregiver.

Fall programs are beginning again. Preschool Story Time will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. for children age 3-5 years with their parent/caregiver. Homeschool Heroes will resume on Friday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. for homeschool families to meet, network and complete an activity.

East Texas Perfictionists Book Club will meet on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss John Grisham’s “Sycamore Row.”

You may have missed this month’s Mineola Crafting Club on the first Saturday, but it will be back again on Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. This is for working on your portable craft (crochet, knitting, hand-quilting, cross-stitch, scrapbook, etc) together with others for a social time of visiting and crafting.

Coming up on Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. is East Texas Library Friends Book Club to discuss “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon and then they will select three more books to read. Come join the discussion and have a vote for the next books to read.

Don’t forget Lone Star Legal stops by the first Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. to help with legal questions. They are part of the Legal Aid offices in Tyler and Longview and would love for you to at least stop in and say hello and find out about what they do. Their next visit is Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are not only appreciated, they may be tax-deductible. Many thanks to our anonymous friend, Fannie Marchman Garden Club and Hochheim Prairie #53 for their donations to the library.
