Here we are in October. The weather has been wonderful, too!
If you missed it Saturday, Oct. 10, we began a Native Seed Library in partnership with the Native Plant Society of Texas’ Lakes and Pines Chapter. Families may borrow up to three seed packets to plant at home. Information about planting is available. At the end of the growing season, we ask that about 10% of the seeds be gathered, placed in a labeled paper envelope and returned to the library.
Did you know we have divided our adult fiction collection by genre? This makes it easier to find science fiction, fantasy, romance, westerns and more. There is still a general fiction area because where do you put a western paranormal romance?
Fun fact: During September, library users saved a combined $42,209.80 just by borrowing books. That doesn’t include the savings from attending free programs or using the internet.
Our programs continue with Toddler Story Time on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., After-School STREAM for kindergarten through fifth grade on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., Preschool Story Time on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and Baby Bounce on Fridays at 2 p.m.
We also offer a twice-monthly Homeschool Family Program, with the next event scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m.
Mineola Memorial Library would like to thank Officer Melvin, the Mineola Fire Department and the operator our staff spoke with for helping us resolve a particular situation.
Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your donations may be tax-deductible. We would also like to thank the Mineola Community Chest for its donation to the library.
