The past two weeks have been a blur. Thanksgiving arrived, and we counted things for which we were thankful and now it’s December. The last month of the year. It’s already been a busy two weeks.

Thank you to CNB Bank for hosting a bake sale benefiting the library. Thank you to all those who baked and to all of those who purchased items. We had great results and we are truly thankful for the support.

On Thursday, Dec. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. will be the Annual Library Open House. At 4 p.m. we will give a State of the Library address (it will be short) followed by refreshments and then around 5 p.m. Santa Claus will visit. Please, join us for these festivities as we say thank you to all who support the library through use of the library, support of the library, and love of the library.

We have two more meetings of Toddler Story Time on Dec. 6 and 13 and two more meetings for Preschool Story time on Dec. 7 and 14. We will then take a short break and resume on Jan. 3.

Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. will be the East Texas Library Friends Book Club meeting to discuss the “Keepers of the House.” We will also pick more books to read in the coming year. This is open to anyone who wishes to join us. You don’t have to have read this book, just stop by and learn what we are about.

Don’t forget to stop by Merry Christmas, TX. The Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library have a couple of tables of books you may have for a donation. What ever you feel your selections are worth may be placed in the donation jar. The event is open weekends through Christmas Eve across the street from the Historic Select Theater.

The library collected books for Caring and Sharing and were able to donate a little over 70 books. Thank you to all who donated books.

The library will be closed Dec. 23 to 26 for the holiday. We will be open Dec. 27 to 30 and then close Dec. 31 for the New Year. We will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday season. Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible. Thank you to the Mineola Community Chest for the donation.
