Mineola Memorial Library Notes
Wow! The summer really flew by. We are gearing up for fun fall programs. We hope you will stop by and see what they are all about. Our air conditioners are working and that’s an added reason to visit.
Toddler Story Time will continue on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. This program is for children age 18 months to 3 years and their parents/caregivers. The children listen to a story, complete an activity and then get to play together while their parents play with the children and talk to each other.
We are going to have a Teen Advisory Board. Their first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. If you are a teen and would like to help the library through ideas, volunteering and having fun, please plan on joining Mrs. Pam to learn about the program.
Crazy 8s Math Club will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. This is math that is fun. Glow in the dark shapes, bouncing dice and other fun weekly activities will be presented. This program will run for eight weeks.
Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. will see the return of Preschool Story Time. This is for children around age 3 to 5 years old and their parents/caregivers. The children will listen to two to three stories and complete activities related to the story. Activities may be songs, games, crafts or a combination.
Green Crafting is a new program on the second Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. This program will meet Sept. 14. Crafting will use recycled items. It’s a fun program for adults to craft and socialize.
We’re bringing back a program for home-school families. It will meet for the first time on Friday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. It is a social time for families that home-school to enjoy time together and participate in a fun activity.
East Texas Library Friends Book Club will meet Saturday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. to discuss “Make Me a City” by Jonathan Carr. The group will also vote on books to be read in 2024. Come join the fun even if you haven’t read the book.
That’s a lot going on in a “quiet” little library. We hope to see you at some of these activities. If you have an idea/interest for another program, please, let us know.
We still are not accepting books, movies or audio books. We are working on the storage situation. We do continue to accept cash/check donations.
The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible. We thank Annie Mouse for a generous donation.
