Mineola Memorial Library Notes
June is ending and July is just right here.
We are halfway through our summer reading program: Camp We Read. We have had some great programs so far such as Toys in Box 3D Printing and a visit from the fire department and Fire-pup.
Attendance at pro-grams has been awesome and the window rock line is growing with participation and read-ing challenge numbers.
This week will be board games in the library. We’ll play board games and some card games like Go Fish and Concentration.
Believe it or not, games encourage deductive reasoning, strategy and memory. All of these are elements that help readers read.
Here’s Camp We Read schedule for the remainder of the program. June 26 first aid discussion and kits, July 3 a visit with Lady Chops, a percussionist from Louisiana, and our wrap up party on July 10 where we will celebrate reading, have a treat, get our rocks to take home and something special to take home.
Elsewhere in the library, we continue to offer Toddler Story Time on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years. High school gamers meet on Tuesday afternoons to play games 14 to 18 year olds would enjoy. East Texas Perfictionists Book Club will meet Thursday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss The “Consequences of Being Anna” (you can find this group on Facebook or just stop by on book club night).
The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and we are not supported by any tax dollars from the city or county. Your donations mean a lot to us and help us provide the building, materials and services to our patrons.
