Here we are in July. Can you believe it?

Our summer reading program, Camp We Read, is finishing up. We have had a great summer with this program. We’ve had visits from Toys in Box 3D Printing with participants making a 3D print, coloring key chain fobs and making a book mark; the fire department came and talked fire safety, let everyone see their truck and sent the kids home with fire hats and badge stickers; we played games in the library; learned about first aid from Ranger Zane and Ranger Katie of Tyler State Park,; played a first aid kit building game with Mrs. Pam then Mr. John read a story while everyone ate s’mores provided by Beauty by Hopeland; Lady Chops percussion performance and interaction; and soon to be our wrap up for a summer of reading.

Home-school Heroes will meet Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. for the Home-school Heroes Games (a play on another international competition happening this summer in Paris). This will be the last meeting of the summer.

East Texas Library Friends Book Club will be meeting in Rains County to discuss “Bound for Glory” by Woodie Guthrie. For directions to the meeting place, look on goodreads.com for the group: East Texas Library Friends. This will be July 13 at 2 p.m.

East Texas Perfictionist book club is reading Dean Koontz’s “Devoted” and will meet the last Thursday of July at 6:30 p.m. to talk about this book and a variety of other topics as the conversation leads.

Toddler Story Time continues on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years with their parent/caregiver. Please, remember, this is for the toddlers.

Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit. We are not supported by taxes from the city or the county. Your donations are very much appreciated. We have received donations from the Pilot Club of Mineola for support of the bookmobile, and I hope this is a repeat because I do not want to forget we have received support from Kiwanis of Mineola and from Rotary Club of Mineola.
