Mineola School Board approves final phase of high school band hall construction bids
Bids for the second phase of construction at Mineola High School met approval from the school board Monday.
The project, which includes a new high school band hall, renovations to the old band hall and adjacent back stage area and additional parking, comes in at $1,764,338.
Trustees approved one addition, $39,346 for roof repairs in the area behind the cafetorium stage.
During the renovations it was discovered that the roof decking had suffered weather damage and needed replacing.
The board also approved additional extended leave for staff members who have to quarantine due to COVID-19 illness or close contact.
The extended leave will be in effect until the end of the school year unless it is modified by additional government rules.
The board also accepted the resignation of John Smith on the high school teaching staff. He will continue with the district until the end of the semester.
