Mineola opened the 2021 high school track season last Thursday with a four-team meet at Van.

The junior varsity boys won their division while the other three Mineola teams were runnersup.

Teams from Malakoff won the other three divisions.

In the field events Dawson Elmore and Trevion Sneed were 1-2 in the shot put, separated by a half-inch. Elmore threw 45’7”.

Jackson Anderson won the discus at 134’1”.

Mineola’s 400-meter relay team nipped Van by .32 at 44.76. The ‘Jackets also took the 800-meter relay in 1:32.95 and the 1,600-meter relay in 3:36.

Two-time defending state champion Abby Kratzmeyer won the pole vault at 11”.

Kapri Riley captured the 3,200 meter run in 14:06 followed closely by Hannah Zoch in second at 14:10 and Keilee Riley third in 14:32.

Mineola grabbed the top three spots in the 1,600-meter run with Kapri Riley winning in 6:24 followed by Keilee Riley at 6:32 and Zoch at 6:33.

Kratzmeyer also won the 100-meter dash at 12.94.

The Lady Jackets were also winners in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:35 and second in the 400 and 800 relays.
