Mitchell Joe Hill, Sr. 1952-2022

Services for Mitchell Joe Hill, Sr., 70, of Quitman were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Jeff Bauman officiating.

Interment was in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mr. Hill passed away July 13, 2022 in Quitman. He was born Feb. 11, 1952 in Irving to Jessie Avery and Juanita Elizabeth McGibboney Hill. He married May Frances Oliver in Edgewood on Dec. 15, 1969. Mitchell moved from Cumby to Quitman in 1977. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, May Frances Hill; four brothers; four sisters; and one great-grandson, Jaxson Lane Mitchell Olbrey.

Survivors include his son, Mitchell Joe Hill, Jr. and wife Saunya of Chandler; four daughters, Tyonia Ann Wright and husband Luke of Canyon, Tanya Lynn Goodson and husband Mark of Commerce, Teresa May Barham and husband Shawn of Quinlan and Tasha Jean Robrecht and husband William of Commerce; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to VFW Post #7523, P.O. Box 237, Mineola, Texas 75773.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
