Myra Jackson 1930-2023

Myra Jackson, 92, of Mineola passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at Mineola Church of Christ. Visitation preceded the service at 10 a.m.

Myra was born in Klondike, Delta County, on May 13, 1930 to Otis and Eula V. Weaver Jackson. She was raised on cotton farms outside Klondike and Commerce, in Hunt County. She attended Klondike, Dallas and Commerce schools and was a 1947 graduate of Commerce High School.

Myra pursued a career as an executive secretary with Collins Radio in Richardson while living in Oak Cliff and Mesquite and being an active member of her local Church of Christ. After retiring in Mesquite, she later moved to Mineola and served through her church there, Mineola Church of Christ.

Her service through her churches included ministry in nursing homes and assisted living centers. She gave selflessly throughout her life. A key ministry Myra served faithfully was as a guide and grader for World Bible School correspondence courses. She corresponded with and assisted multiple students, especially in Africa.

Her love for dogs was well-known, and each of her dogs was a close companion in her adult life. Caprice, Sophie, Sadie and Macie were beloved canine family members.

Myra was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Billy Claud Jackson and Roy Evans Jackson; her sisters, Val Jean Jackson Burrow and Mary Sue Jackson Gammon; niece, Sandy Jackson Van Bibber; and nephew Danny Jackson.

Survivors include her brother, Larry L. Jackson of Mineola; nieces, Brenda Gammon Kolb, Judy Gammon Kretzinger, Cindy Jackson Gibson, Pamela Jackson Rowland, Beverly Burrow, Jill Burrow Risman and Tammy Jackson Cunningham; and nephews, Mike Jackson, Ronald Keith Jackson, Lundy Gammon, Les Jackson and Anthony “A.J.” Jackson.

Burial was in New Klondike Cemetery in Klondike, Delta County.
