Oakes reassigned to new position over alternative education plans
Former Quitman ISD athletic director and head football coach Bryan Oakes has been reassigned as the director of student transition for the district.
In a statement, QISD Superintendent Rhonda Turner said, “The Director of Student Transition supports the design and implementation of transition plans for students enrolled in our Alternative Educational Program or students serving disciplinary placements at our DAEP campus, to return to home campus or into college and career environments. In addition, the director will also design and implement year-round programs to promote success among all special population students. The director will help determine DAEP/AEP placements as a liaison to the home campus. The director will perform service to help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their ability to enjoy the benefits of the educational process.”
The position is a new one for QISD.
New athletic director and head football coach Shane Webber will start working with Quitman athletes as soon as possible.
