The Boles Hornets employed a punishing running attack to take home a 32-8 win over the Alba-Golden Panthers Friday, concluding the 2025 gridiron campaign for both schools.

A scoreless first quarter was highlighted by two turnovers.

On the game’s opening drive, Alba-Golden’s Boogie Trimble stripped a Boles ballcarrier, giving the Panthers the ball near midfield. A middle screen by Alba-Golden broke through the Hornet defense for a big gain, however the ball was likewise stripped at the tackle, and Boles recovered.

The visitors embarked on a 19-play drive, pounding the ball off-tackle. The Hornets scored on the second play of the second quarter on a 12-yard quarterback draw.

While the Alba-Golden defense was well-positioned to stop the Boles running game, any time a defender either went under or around a block, the Boles running backs cut to take advantage of the space.

It was the first of five long scoring drives by Boles, almost all of it on the ground. Boles did strike through the air in the final seconds of the half when they hit a 23-yard post route for a score. At the half the score stood 19-0.

The Panthers could gain no traction against the Boles defense in the first half; however, they began the second half with a concerted push. They drove the ball 50 yards to open the second half, using a reinvigorated ground game and some timely throws from quarterback Sam Olson to Trimble and Cooper Christian.

The Panthers reached the Boles 15-yard line before turning the ball over on downs. The Hornets scored on a 79-yard drive as the third quarter played to a close.

The sequence repeated itself in the final quarter. A 61-yard Panther possession stalled, and Boles answered with their final score.

Frustration set in along the Panther sideline. A major penalty set them back to their own 14-yard line.

Daidrian Green came in for his first offensive snap of the game and promptly took the ball around the right edge for an electrifying 86-yard touchdown run. Once he gained the edge he played off an influence block in the secondary and outraced the pursuing Boles defense. Green carried the 2-point conversion in on the following play.

The long scoring run was a harbinger for the 2026 campaign.

Boles recovered the ensuing kick and ground out the last two minutes of the season.
