Powerlifters earn top spots in state meet
Two power lifters from Quitman and Mineola earned medals at the Texas High School Women’s state championship Thursday in Frisco.
Addison Marcee of Quitman took fifth in the 105 weight class while Shylah Kratzmeyer took 5th in the 132 class.
Two other Quitman girls had top ten finishes, with Abby Day taking sixth in the 181 class and Cadence Runyan placing 9th in the 114 class.
Alba-Golden’s Cacie Lennon was the school’s first state qualifier and took 8th in the 123 class.
Lennon competed in the 1A/2A division while the Quitman girls were in the 3A small division and Kratzmeyer in the 3A large division.
Kratzmeyer was sitting in sixth after the squat and bench press and was able to move up to fifth with a 345-pound deadlift, the best in her division.
Individual results are as follows:
Cacie Lennon, Alba-Golden, 123 class, 8th, 710 pounds, 285, 155, 270 (winning total 820).
Ranked 13th to start with 685 pounds.
Addison Marcee, Quitman, 105 class, 5th, 630 pounds, 240, 150, 240 (winning total 700).
Cadence Runyan, Quitman, 114 class, 9th, 620 pounds, 255, 125, 240 (winning total 760). Came in ranked 20th at 615.
Abby Day, Quitman, 181 class, 6th, 875 pounds, 370, 200, 305 (winning total 1,310). Came in 6th at 835.
Kaleigh Smith, Quitman, 97 class, scratch.
Shylah Kratzmeyer, Mineola, 132 class, 5th, 810 pounds, 295, 170, 345 (winning total 870 pounds).
