QISD administrators in leadership program

Quitman School District administrators and emerging leaders are embarking on a year-long endeavor to strengthen principal supervision and coaching, instructional leadership, and campus leadership development.

The Texas Education Agency is working with New Leaders and Region 7 Service Center to provide this collaborative training. Quitman School District will join several other East Texas districts in this year-long, intensive training program.

Quitman Superintendent Rhonda Turner said, “This is a rare opportunity for our campus and district leaders to receive this intense and targeted training provided by New Leaders. We are appreciative to The Texas Education Agency and Region 7 Service Center for allowing our team to be a part of their team.”

The primary purpose of the training is to allow administrators “to narrow their focus to key instructional leadership practices proven to improve outcomes for students and teachers,” said Regina Davis, associate director of leadership development and educator certification of Region 7 Service Center in Kilgore.
