QISD board OKs purchase of more student laptops
More new Chromebooks are on the way to Quitman ISD. School board members approved $66,247 for the purchase of 250 laptops which will be for junior high students beginning next fall semester. The cost is $265 each.
Quitman band director Michael Barron sought permission to buy five French horns. “We have enough instruments for next year except for French horns,” Barron said. The board approved $15,795 to purchase the new instruments.
Superintendent Rhonda Turner reported that enrollment is 1,175. Kari Wilson reported tax collections were at 93.33%.
In other business, the board approved the purchase of NWEA Maps at a cost of $19,038. This program measures academic growth in reading, math and science.
The board approved an inter-local agreement with Region 10 Education Service Center, which is located in Richardson, for milk bids.
The board approved a resolution for employee pay during weather emergencies for Feb. 3, 4 and 24.
The board tabled the matter concerning the Schneider Electric energy savings performance contract for further study.
