QISD receives top financial score
The Quitman ISD board met from 5-9 p.m. on Monday night. Their regularly scheduled board meeting ran from 5-6, and it was followed by a three-hour Region 7 training session. The board completes this training twice a year, according to QISD Superintendent Chris Mason.
All items on the agenda were quickly approved by the board without much discussion. Items included an interlocal cooperation agreement for property tax collection for $33,600, a first read on legislative Update 126, moving the January meeting to the 19th instead of the 26th, and voting for Dr. Ricky Cameron for the Wood County Appraisal District board. All 506 votes were cast for Cameron.
According to TASB, legislative Update 126 includes updates on “Requirements for reporting employee misconduct,” the “Employee right to pray during work hours” and a “Reduced deadline for reporting child abuse.”
The board also heard from QISD Director of Finance Kari Wilson regarding the Financial Integrity Rating System (FIRST). According to Mason, the school has a “perfect score of 100.”
“This simply means our business office is full of rockstars, and we are in solid financial standing,” said Mason.
The board presented the QISD Food Service program with November’s Top Dog award.
