Quilt club presenting rescheduled program

Posted

The rescheduled appearance of the Pleasant Hill Quilt Club will be Saturday, March 5 at the First United Methodist Church Ministry Center, 612 N. Newsom in Mineola.

The club members dress in historical garb and retell the story of how the codes embroidered into the quilts helped guide escaped slaves north during the Civil War era.

The club meets weekly at the Pleasant Hill Community Center, which is housed in the former Pleasant Hill Black school in Linden.

Admission is free. The program is presented by the Mineola Historical Museum in honor of Black History Month.
