Becky Smith and Kania Janjua lean in for a close inspection of the Best of Show quilt, 102 Round the Garden at Midnight by Susan Hardi, during the Mineola League of The Arts annual Quilt Show Oct. 10-11 in Mineola. The show featured 133 entries, 117 of which were judged by Marilyn Hardy, National Association of Certified Quilt Judges. The quilt show, formerly combined with the art show until both grew too large to host in the same event, has been an annual feature in Mineola for more than three decades according to longtime member Vicki Steed.

Nancy Gibson, a member of the Mineola League of the Arts since 1997, gives a demonstration on hand-quilting. She said she loves the annual quilt show because it gives makers the opportunity to showcase their quilts as the artistic pieces they are, and to get the appreciation they deserve.

Some of the largest quilts of the show were too big for frame display, and were hung along the walls of the League of The Arts building.
