Quitman Bulldogs’ Season Ends in Tough Bi-District Series

The Quitman Bulldogs saw their postseason run come to an end last week after a tough two-game bi-district series against the Tatum Eagles, falling in both contests, losing 13-3 on Wednesday and 14-1 on Friday.
In the opening game, played Wednesday in Carthage, Quitman struggled to keep pace in a 13-3 loss. The Bulldogs briefly grabbed momentum in the second inning; however, Tatum responded quickly and decisively.
Quitman showed flashes of offensive capability, with multiple players contributing at the plate and driving in runs. Still, a combination of walks and timely hitting by Tatum proved difficult to overcome, as the Eagles maintained pressure throughout the game.
The second matchup on Friday in Lindale followed a similar trajectory, though the Bulldogs kept things competitive early on. Light rain persisted through much of the contest, adding another layer of difficulty for both teams. Quitman held Tatum in check through the first four innings, staying within striking distance.
But Tatum broke through in the fifth inning with a key scoring surge, then added another decisive rally in the seventh inning to pull away for a 14-1 victory.
Quitman managed to generate some offense, highlighted by situational hitting in the middle innings that produced their lone run. On the mound, Bulldog pitchers combined for a solid effort in stretches, but defensive miscues proved costly. A high number of errors ultimately allowed Tatum to take charge and run the score up.
