Quitman hosts three-team power lifting meet
In a three-school power lifting meet at Quitman last Thursday, Mineola boys took first with 66 points followed by Ore City with 31 and Quitman with 27.
First place finishers for Mineola were Dalton Hamlin, Renard Mateo, Chris Alejo, Edgar Rubio, Kaleb Barton, D.J. Newsome and Noralle Brumsey. Quitman’s first place winner was Hayden Batchelder.
Second place finishers for Mineola were Parker Harris, Moses Madellin, Bryson Myers and Joe Martinez. Second place finishers for Quitman were Mikey Pickering and Austin Jones.
Third place finishers for Mineola were Adam Blalock, Paul Stanley and Cole Thompson. Quitman third place finishers were Sebastian Letterman and Austin Tanner.
The Quitman girls power lifting team placed second in a three-team meet last Thursday in Quitman. Winnsboro took first with 48 points followed by Quitman with 39 points and Ore City with 15 points.
First place winners for Quitman were Hannah Smith, Skylar Flores and Bailey Hughes. Second place finishers for the Lady Bulldogs were Crystal Plata and Sofia Tannebaum. Third place Quitman finishers were Rhiana Bradshaw and Helena Bautista-Mathias.
Quitman’s Caitlyn Elliot placed fourth.
