Quitman Lady Bulldogs win 81-27 over Eustace Lady Bulldogs

The Quitman Lady Bulldogs overran the Eustace Lady Bulldogs 81-27 on Friday, Jan. 9, showcasing their offensive firepower from start to finish.

Quitman wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead behind sharp shooting and aggressive defense. Addison Sapp and Autumn Cason each contributed 3-pointers in the opening minutes. The Quitman Lady Bulldogs quickly leaped to a 26-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. 

Eustace tried to generate some momentum by starting the second quarter strong, but Quitman responded quickly. Annabelle Popek scored inside, and Erin VanderSchaaf calmly sank free throws after being fouled. Laine Kelly finished a strong drive to the basket, and Kaylin Sapp and Lynlee Taylor also joined the scoring column as Quitman continued to dominate the scoreboard.

The crowd came alive late in the half, when Kaylin Sapp drilled a 3-pointer, which was quickly followed by another long-range shot from Kelly. By halftime, Quitman had built a commanding 53-14 lead.

The Quitman Lady Bulldogs showed no signs of slowing down in the third quarter. After Eustace once again scored first, Quitman answered with a balanced attack. Kinsley McCutcheon set the student section rumbling when she sank a 3-pointer less than a minute into the quarter, and VanderSchaaf brought the bench and the crowd to their feet when she sank a 3-pointer right as the buzzer went off, ending the third quarter 67-21.

The fourth quarter was a display in controlled dominance, as Quitman scored 14 points to Eustace’s six. Quitman closed out the contest with an 81-27 victory.

Kelly and Addison Sapp led scorers with 17 points each. Kelly added five rebounds and three steals, while Sapp finished with an impressive 11 rebounds and two steals. Cason contributed 14 points, and McCutcheon added 13. VanderSchaaf scored five points and impressed defensively with five steals. Popek added five points, and was a force on the boards with five offensive and five defensive rebounds along with two steals. Kaylin Sapp scored five points, and Taylor chipped in four.
