Quitman Library Connections
Due to the unexpected closure of Baker & Taylor, access to the Boundless® eBook app ended abruptly on Dec. 15. Meanwhile, please continue to enjoy our other eBook platform, Libby®. For questions about your username and password, call us at 903-763-4191.
The library will close on Dec. 24 at noon for Christmas, and normal business hours will resume on Dec. 30. The library will also close at noon on Dec. 31 and will be closed Jan. 1. After that, we will return to regular hours.
Knitting & Crochet Class will take a holiday break and will return to meetings on Jan. 8. The class meets every Thursday from 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this group. Classes are free.
The next meeting of the Friends of the Library will be Feb. 12 at noon. The Friends now meet on the 2nd Thursday of February, May, September and December in the community room.
Whyte Dove Writers Group meets every 2nd Monday. You are welcome to join this group of regional authors, editors and aspiring writers who meet to discuss, review and share techniques.
Wood County Metal Detector Club meets every 1st Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the community room. The public is invited.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will return to regular meetings in January. The society meets every 3rd Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the community room.
The Quitman Bridge Club meets Wednesdays at 1 p.m. David Worrall, an expert Bridge player and instructor, invites players of all levels to come.
The Board Games for Teens group meets every other Friday from 1-4 p.m. in the community room. Bring board games and snacks to share. This group is organized by the Wood County Homeschool Coalition and is designed for teens 13-19. Call the library to confirm game days.
Notary service is available at the library during regular business hours. Walk-ins are welcome, but to guarantee an appointment, call the library’s front desk.
Library patrons can connect to the TexShare® database of reference and research resources by calling our front desk or visiting the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org. Patron cards are available at no cost to those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children 5-17. Regular hours are Tues.-Fri. from 10-6.
