Summer Reading 2026, “Unearth a Story,” is scheduled throughout June with programming designed for children ages Pre-K through 10 years old. Stop by the library to pick up a play card.

Programs begin June 3 with “Unearth a Surprise!” featuring the Wood County Metal Detector Club, where participants will discover coins, small dinosaur bones and other surprises. On June 10, “Jurassic Magic!” will feature master magician Mike Corry. “Make Japanese Origami!” is scheduled for June 17, when Japanese origami artist Jojo Cain will demonstrate how to fold an array of dinosaurs. “Dinosaur Movie Time!” will be held June 24 with free popcorn and drinks.

The series concludes June 26 with the “Jon McDermott Concert and Prize Awards!” McDermott will stop by during his tour for a special performance. His tour is sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Earning a General Educational Development certificate, or GED, is easier with the help of a professional tutor to guide students through the process. Tutoring is available each Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. Contact Sara de la Rosa at saradelarosa@outlook.com for information.The QPL Knitting and Crochet Class regularly meets from 2 to 4 p.m. each Thursday at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join the growing group.
