The Quitman Public Library is participating in the monthlong “Register in September – Vote in November” voter registration campaign. Forms are available at the front checkout desk.
September is also National Library Card Sign-up Month, so stop in and see what your library has to offer. Patron cards are free for Wood County residents who provide proof of residence and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
Near the checkout area is a display of books arranged by QPL staff to highlight the American Library Association’s Banned Books Month and promote the freedom to read.
Tutoring is available each Wednesday at 4 p.m. Whether you are studying for a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or just brushing up on your math skills, it helps to have a professional tutor who can guide you through the process. Contact Sara de la Rosa at saradelarosa@outlook.com.
The QPL Knitting & Crochet Club meets each Thursday from 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and enjoy free instruction.
The Wood County Metal Detector Club regularly meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room.
The Whyte Dove Writers’ Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-8:30 p.m. at the library. Consider joining this distinctive group of local published authors.

Visit www.quitmanlibrary.org to access the TexShare database, which provides access to more than 27,000 journals, 171,000 e-books and 15 million images, videos and interactive resources.
Patrons may also download the Libby app to connect to the library’s collection of e-books, audiobooks and streaming video. Links to Libby, TexShare and other research and reference resources are available on the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org.
