Quitman Police Officer Joe Andrade retired on Thursday, Aug.29, and a retirement party was thrown in his honor by the department at the Carroll Green Civic Center.

Fellow officers from surrounding areas and various members of the of the judicial system in Wood County came to honor him, as well as friends and family members.

Andrade has over 19 years in the law enforcement field. He has spent over eight loyal years with the Quitman department and was given a plaque honoring him for his service.

The number of people who came by to wish him well was a testament to his service to the community, Chief John Farmer said.

The department thanks Officer Andradre for his years of selfless service and wishes him all the best as he starts a new chapter of his life, Farmer said.
