The Quitman Police Department responded to 96 calls for service, issued 23 citations, gave 18 warnings, one criminal trespass warning was issued, and six reports were taken.

These are the arrests made during this period:

January 1

Sgt. Clint Perkins made a traffic stop in the 100 block of S. Main St. after observing a pickup with no visible registration sticker on the windshield. Perkins showed the driver as Dallas Dobbs and found that he had outstanding warrants out of Wood County for rider not secured in safety belt-driver, driving while license invalid and installer affix unauthorized sun screening device to motor vehicle. Dobbs was transported to Wood County Jail for book in on all warrants.

January 6

Chief John Farmer was called to the Parts Plus in the 500 block of E. Goode St. for a suspicious white female after she had been seen in possession of multiple items of identification that were not hers. Farmer was told that the female was in the Shear Impulse Beauty Salon and would not leave. Farmer entered the salon and asked an employee if they asked her to leave which they advised yes. Farmer asked the female to step outside who was identified as Ashlie Garcia and was found to be wanted out of Winnsboro Police Department for four traffic warrants. Garcia was transported to Wood County Jail for book in for the following warrants, failed to display driver’s license on demand, failure to maintain financial responsibility (no proof of insurance), operating an unregistered motor vehicle and no drivers license.

January 14

Officer Kevin Atkinson made a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Bermuda St. where the driver Jacob Smith was driving with an expired motor vehicle registration and was found to have a warrant out of Wood County for operating a motor vehicle without a registration insignia. Smith was arrested for the warrant and failure to maintain financial responsibility (no proof of insurance). Smith was transported to Wood County Jail for book in on both charges.
