Quitman Police Report
The Quitman Police Dept. answered 290 calls for service between Aug. 1-18. Officers issued 35 traffic citations and 59 traffic warnings, made three warrant arrests and three on-site arrests.
August 2
Officer Joseph Gatewood responded to the Double H Package Store in the 300 block of Richards St. and arrested James Long for public intoxication. Long was transported to Wood County jail.
August 5
Officer Gatewood, and Officer Victor Taylor went to the 100 block of Tomie St. for a disturbance. Officers spoke to the parties and arrested Caleb Reynolds for assault causing bodily injury family violence. Officers transported Reynolds to Wood County jail.
August 6
While working the carnival at the Old Settler’s Reunion in Jim Hogg City Park, Sgt. John Cooper and Officer Joe Andrade were approached by a citizen about an intoxicated man. Jason Bohannon was transported to Wood County jail.
August 8
Sgt. John Cooper went to Brookshire’s on East Goode St. where a man was reported to be intoxicated. Cooper made contact with Avery Hartness who had an outstanding warrant for assault causing bodily injury family violence-release of surety bond. Hartness was transported to Wood County jail.
August 15
Captain Clint Perkins worked a disturbance at the UT Health Quitman emergency room. Jaunte Hawkins who was found to have two outstanding warrants and taken into custody for theft of property, more than $100 and less than $750, and failure to appear/bail jumping. Perkins transported Hawkins to Wood County jail.
