Quitman Police Report
The Quitman Police Dept. answered 168 calls for service between Jan. 1-15, issued 32 traffic citations and 83 traffic warnings, three criminal trespass warnings and took 14 reports.
January 3
Officer Joseph Gatewood responded to the 900 block of Zola St. for a medical emergency for a deceased person.
January 6
Capt. Clint Perkins met with bank officers from the First National Bank of East Texas at the police department to file a theft by check over $30,000 and less or equal to $150,000 fraud report. According to the report, several fraudulent checks were passed. This is being investigated further by Lt. Detective Scott Gallimore.
January 8
Capt. Clint Perkins responded to the 400 block of Poe St. for an inquest.
January 10
Lt. Scott Gallimore responded to the 700 block of Jeanell St. where he took a hit and run report. The person advised that the incident occurred in the UT Health Hospital parking lot on Monday, Jan. 9 while she was at the hospital for a relative having surgery. This offense is under further investigation.
