The Quitman Police Department answered 171 calls for service from March 30 to April 16, issued 24 traffic citations, 61 traffic warnings, one criminal trespass warning, took 12 reports, made one warrant arrest and two on-site arrests.

March 30

Officer Cristian Gallegos initiated a traffic stop on Wells Road after observing a vehicle disregard a stop sign in the 600 block of Tammy St. Hannah Bailey was arrested for  driving while license Invalid with a previous conviction and for failure to maintain financial responsibility with a previous conviction.

April 2

Officer Joe Andrade responded to a call at UT Health Quitman emergency room. The ER staff advised a man came in telling them he had a male psych patient tied up in the back of his pickup truck. The Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. also responded and once it was established whatever happened occurred somewhere in the county, the sheriff’s office took over the investigation.  

April 4 

Officer Jesus Sandoval took a fraud/ forgery report from a person who explained he had been the victim of forgery. The person advised someone had gotten a copy of one of his business checks and deposited a large amount of money into a credit union account in another state for $40,000. This case was forwarded to criminal investigations.    

April 7 

Officer Sandoval initiated a traffic stop on Horton St. after observing a vehicle disregard a stop sign. The driver, Mandrake Greene, was found to have an outstanding warrant. Greene was arrested for a City of Quitman capias warrant for no drivers license.
