The Quitman Police Department answered 232 calls for service from April 18 to May 14, issued 53 traffic citations and 88 traffic warnings, one criminal trespass warning, took 38 reports, made eight warrant arrests and 17 on-site arrests.

April 18

Officer Jesus Sandoval and Lt. Scott Gallimore initiated a traffic stop on Horton St. and Sissy Spacek Dr. after observing a traffic violation. Shane Carl King Davis was arrested for  driving while license invalid with previous conviction and failure to maintain financial responsibility with previous conviction.

April 20

School Resource Officer Victor Taylor took a white male juvenile into custody at Quitman High School for terroristic threat. He was taken to Wood County Juvenile Probation. 

April 21

Sgt. John Cooper took a report of an injury to a child from Child Protective Services. Cooper secured a warrant for Tristan Rushing. On April 28 Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore located Rushing and took him into custody on Earlene Dr. for injury to a child, a third degree felony.

April 26

Officer Joseph Gatewood and Sgt. Cooper were notified that Dept. of Public Safety Trooper Brandon Love was in a pursuit of a black Chevy Camaro coming into Quitman. Trooper Love,  Officer Gatewood, and Sgt. Cooper initiated a felony stop on S. Main St. at the Church on the Rock parking lot. The trooper took Milton Barnes into custody for driving while intoxicated second offense.

  

April 27

Capt. Clint Perkins observed Dallas Dobbs in the 100 block of E. Lane St. who had three Quitman capias warrants. He was arrested for expired registration, failure to maintain financial responsibility and expired drivers license.

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. after observing a traffic violation. Andrew Mayo was arrested for driving while license invalid and  for failure to maintain financial responsibility with a previous conviction.

April 28

Officer Joe Andrade investigated a suspicious vehicle stopped in the roadway just west of the city limits on W. Hwy. 154. Driver Brandon Burnett Jr. was found to have three Harris County outstanding warrants for aggravated assault family members, assault family/household impeding breath and interfering with emergency request for assistance. He was transported to the Wood County jail. 

April 30

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore where dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of Richards St. where Teresa Bogard was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a dangerous drug.

May 2

Officer  Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. after observing a traffic violation. David Williamson Jr. was arrested for failure to maintain financial responsibility with a previous conviction.

May 6

Sgt. Cooper initiated a traffic stop at W. Bermuda and Bookman St. after observing a traffic violation. Osvaldo Hernandez Arellano was arrested for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

May 8

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore were dispatched to the Dept. of Protective and Regulatory Services on Goodwin St. for someone refusing to leave. The suspect refused a request to identify himself. Kyle Halderman was arrested for criminal trespassing and failure to identify.

May 10

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on S. Main St. at Jim Hogg City Park after observing a traffic violation. Katherine Rohus was arrested for failure to maintain financial responsibility second offense.

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. after observing a traffic violation. John Brandon III was arrested for driving while license invalid with previous conviction, failure to maintain financial responsibility with previous conviction and possessing drug paraphernalia.

May 11

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. after observing a violation. Krystal Duncan was arrested for failure to maintain financial responsibility second offense. Duncan had two Quitman warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility and speeding 11-15 mph over the limit.

May 12

Officer Sandoval and Lt. Gallimore were dispatched to the Towner Motel on S. Main St. Officers contacted Brandon Asbill who was lying front of the rooms intoxicated. The manager advised that Asbill had checked out at 11 a.m. Asbill was arrested for public intoxication.
