Quitman sets annual two-day cleanup

The city of Quitman clean-up days will be Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the city warehouse at the end of Cliff St. and West Side Dr.

The event is for Quitman residents only. Participants must bring the most recent water bill from the city.

Items that will  be accepted:

General municipal waste generated by residents, general office waste, yard waste, small amounts of construction debris, boxes and cardboard materials, leather or cloth products, dried paint buckets, plastic items, small items of wood or metal

Items that will not be accepted:

Liquid cooking oil, medical waste, motor oil or filters, floor sweep containing oil or any kind of fuel, chemicals or pesticides, tires must be quartered or sliced into three slices, paint or paint buckets containing liquid, refrigeration units containing cfc’s (refrigerator, freezer, air conditioners, etc.) ***not even the shell, batteries.
