Rachel Sneed pleads guilty to embezzlement

Rachel Sneed, the former employee of the Lake Fork Special Utility District who was arrested and charged for embezzling over $300,000, has pled guilty.

Sneed’s offenses took place from August 2022 to January 2023. The total theft was $357,336, according to the accountant who completed the audit. Sneed originally admitted to taking $45,000 of the money for late bills, but her guilty plea now puts the first degree felony on her record.

The 2023 arrest warrant for Sneed was for first degree theft; however, county jail records showed that she was charged with a second degree felony later in 2023. The final charge and plea in 2026 was for a first degree felony.

Sneed must complete 10 years of community supervision, 320 community service hours, and pay an as-yet to-be-determined restitution.
