Republican club to host forum

Republican Women of Wood County have scheduled a political forum for three local races on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mineola Civic Center.

Races to be featured include Texas House District 5 and Wood County commissioner Precincts One and Three. The primary is Tuesday, March 5, with early voting beginning Feb. 20.

The event is free and will be moderated by Dr. Dana Myers, vice chair of the Texas Republican Party.

A flyer advertising the event indicates all three incumbents (I) have declined to participate.

House District 5 – Dewey Collier, Jeff Fletcher, Cole Hefner (I)

Precinct One – Justin Bowring, Randy Dunn, Virgil Holland (I)

Precinct Three – David Eishen, Mike Simmons (I).

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
