Tax abatement guidelines on hold again
A public hearing on adopting guidelines and criteria for granting abatement within a reinvestment zone for commercial and industrial tax abatement in Wood County led to the matter being tabled by county commissioners last week.
Commissioners approved adding Paul Holland as a reserve officer on a request from Constable Prec. 3 John McQueen.
Holland recently retired as an officer in Allen and has 30 years experience. Using the reserve officer will not cost the county anything. The officer’s uniform and all other supplies will be paid for by Holland.
Commissioners tabled approving the radio tower contract until the next meeting. They approved the sale of fireworks for Texas Independence Day.
In personnel actions, commissioners approved the resignations of four employees in the Wood County Sheriff’s Office: jailer Lakisha Henderson, Jail Captain Lacy Ogle, Deputy Michael Allison and CID Sergeant Billy Hill. Also resigning was Prec. 3 road tech Richard Stanley. Debra Carpenter was hired as temporary help in Prec. 3.
Ahneka Tullos was hired as a cook at the jail. Temporary help hired in the elections office were Carol Denson and Athena Young. Hired part-time in the tax office was Holly Williams, and Sarah Yoder resigned as auto deputy in the tax office.
In the district attorney’s office, Aimee Cook resigned as victim’s coordinator and replaced by Catherine Clayton. In other personnel action, Jenifer Moser was named chief deputy for new District Clerk Suzy Wright.
The following subdivisions were approved: Colby Max Subdivision, Wayne Byely Subdivision, Cory Morehead Subdivision, Grady Hayes Addition, Hartley Grace Subdivision and Hill Top Oaks Subdivision.
