Three seeking constable’s position

Three men are seeking the Precinct Two constable post in the March 5 Republican primary, Joshua Davis, Bobby Tucker and Stephen Nichols. Incumbent Kelly Smith did not seek a third term.

Davis, 37, is a criminal interdiction deputy with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and a former criminal investigator with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

He and his wife, Katrina, also own and operate Boom Fitness and Boom Nutrition in Mineola.

They have resided in Mineola 12 years and have four children.

Davis is a graduate of Van High School and is attending Texas A&M Commerce majoring in organizational leadership.

He is a U.S. Air Fore veteran and received the Air Force Medal of Achievement in 2014.

He was named officer of the year for the Wood County SO in 2019 and the Hopkins County SO in 2022.

He holds a master peace officer license and has 4,300 hours of TCOLE training and education.

He has coached little league baseball and softball since 2015 and attends the New Hope Baptist Church.

Nichols, 52, of Mineola, is retired after 21-plus years with the Texas Highway Patrol, the past 15 in Wood County.

He is a US Air Force veteran and previously served as a ranch foreman. He graduated from Van High School in 1989.

He and his wife, Kelli, have a daughter, Harley, and son-in-law, Cameron; sons, Colton, Dillon, and  daughter-in-law Terilynn, and Dalton; and grandchildren Liam, Stella and Luna Brosh and Sunny Nichols.

Bobby Tucker, 49, of Mineola has resided here for two and a half years after returning to his hometown following a military career.

He is the manager for Ace Hardware and retired from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years, with a brief pause to obtain a college degree.

He and his wife Heather (Ph.D. in business administration - operations and supply chain management) have three children, James Burrage and Erica and Christian Tucker.

He is a member of Mineola Masonic Lodge #502 and a Christian.
