Posted

The Wood County Genealogy Society will meet Monday, Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library.

Tony LeGrow will bring the program on “Marathon of Hope.”

Tony was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. A year later his family moved to the very remote and poor province of Newfoundland, Canada, the most eastern part of North America.  Just before he turned nine, his parents made a huge decision to move to the United States. They landed in Linden. About seven years later, Tony was sworn in as a citizen of the United States. He says it was one of the proudest days of his life. Tony and his family now live in Lindale.

Tony has been married to his wife, Jill, for 23 years, and they have two sons, Hudson (16) and Jackson (14). He has spent many years volunteering in youth sports including coaching football, baseball, basketball and soccer teams. He is serving as the Lindale baseball booster club vice president. Tony is also actively involved in his local church, Christ Point Methodist in Lindale, and is in his ninth year on the church leadership team. He is also an active member of the Quitman Kiwanis and the Quitman Chamber of Commerce.

Tony worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 20 years and is the proud owner of a small business in Quitman as a financial advisor at Edward Jones Investments.
