Wood County Treasurer Daphne Carter has announced she will not be seeking reelection in 2026.

Her term ends Dec. 31, 2026. The filing period for the position is Nov. 8 to Dec. 8 with the respective party chairmen for the March primaries. The general election is in November 2026.

Carter released the following statement on Monday:

After much reflection and with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing that I will not be seeking re-election for the position of Wood County treasurer. It has been an honor to serve our county and its residents, and I am deeply thankful for the trust and support you’ve shown me throughout my tenure.

This decision marks a new chapter in my life, and while I will be retiring at the end of my term, I look forward to continuing to support Wood County in new ways and watching its future unfold with hope and pride.
